SMH: Not From This Nasty Ol' Place

I love thrift stores, but these days don't have a chance to venture to them often. Well Friday I decided to take the kids to one. ....

Me: Ohh look! I see all kinds of pants for Vannah for school. Tag $1.79 and it's a 50% off color- Jackpot!
Jaleah: Umph...Look at the floors. They're dirty!
Hyland: Umm.. Why does everything look...old? This place looks old. Can we get out of here?
Me: I'm still looking.
Hyland: Well, you can buy YOU something from here...

*BTW- The floors WERE clean. They were speckled, not dirty. And-- my oldest child is only 8. Too good for this already?

Lord, what was I thinking???

Parentable: Chart Their Success!

Just in time for back-to-school, today's parentable is a success tracker from imom.com. This tracker can be used in various ways and is downloadable in either color or black and white. I will be using ours for bedtime.  My children aren't called the vampire kids for nothing! They LOVE summer because we have tons of activities and guest, and bedtime is usually extended into the wee hours because of it all. Now that school is starting, 8 o'clock bedtime here we come. 25 times to bed on time and you get a special treat. Last year I took them to a local toystore and had them pick 3 things they wanted. A budget was set, a photo was snapped of them holding their items, and a goal was made. The deal was when they reached the end of the chart, they received the gift. I would choose one of the three items from their list so it would be a surprise. They loved it!  How will you use the tracker? Can't wait to hear all about it.
